Bill Bullen
Chief Executive Officer

Bill gained an engineering degree at Bath University in 1984 and a Master's in energy conservation and the environment at Cranfield. He has been in the energy industry since the mid-1980s, having held a variety of roles both in the UK and abroad.
In the 1990s, Bill was instrumental in establishing and growing Electricity Direct - a B2B electricity supplier that was sold to British Gas in 2002 after reaching 100,000 customers.
He later founded Utilita with innovation at its heart. Under his guidance, the company installed Britain's first domestic dual-fuel smart meters in 2008.
Since then, he has led Utilita to become a Top 10 energy supplier with over 800,000 customers.
Utilita’s customer-first approach stems from Bill and his passion to do what is right.
Derek Lickorish MBE
Chairman

Derek’s career in the energy industry spans more than half a century – the majority of which has been in senior management and executive roles.
From 2008 to 2015, he was Chair of the UK Government’s Fuel Poverty Advisory Group and from 2011 to 2020, a member of Ofgem's Sustainability Advisory Group.
In an executive capacity, Derek was employed by EDF Energy as their Chief Operating Officer for six years and was previously the Customer Service and External Affairs Director at SWEB from 1996.
His current charitable works, and pro bono interests, include being a Trustee for Sustainability First, A member of National Energy Actions Presidents Group, and Chair of Northern Powergrid's Social Issues Expert Group.
He was awarded an MBE for his ‘Services to the Fuel Poor’ in The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Honours in 2012.
Ashley Milne

A Chartered accountant, Ashley is skilled in accounting, systems and controls, financial planning, and analysis.
Getting the best value for the business and customers is his number one priority, and with more than 10 years of post-qualified experience, he continually drives improvements through the implementation and education of new technology.
He brings process efficiency and improved insight to the business and has done since joining in 2018 as Financial Controller.
Prior to life at Utilita, Ashley had various roles at insurance giants Aviva and Zurich after qualifying in practice.
Steve Parker
Chief Sales Officer

A sales professional for over 35 years, Steve started his career in retail, initially working for a convenience retailer for 14 years, becoming a Regional Manager at 28. His later roles included out of town retailing with Mothercare, Tesco and Sainsburys, before joining Utilita as a consultant in 2009.
In 2012, he became a permanent member of the team as Director of Sales & Marketing and has since been responsible for the customer acquisition channels across both domestic and business energy.
Steve has developed multi-channel sales activity which include face to face sales, telesales, online and Utilita’s relationships with landlords, housing associations and local authorities. Steve is also responsible for Utilita’s Energy Hubs and their expansion across the country.
Steve is a Master in Business Administration, skilled in process design and project delivery across many aspects of business and is responsible for Utilita’s Business Change team.
Imran Bannister
Chief Analytical Officer

Imran is responsible for energy risk management and pricing, industry operations and reporting and analytics.
He has been instrumental in Utilita's response to strategic changes in the industry, particularly the retail price caps, and he has overseen the creation of extensive company-wide reporting to inform tactical decision-making. The energy risk hedging strategies he developed have also proven resilient to energy market turmoil.
Prior to joining Utilita in 2012, Imran worked at Friends Provident International, where he created analytical models of strategic decisions, and at Carnival UK, where he developed pricing and forecasting models.
Imran holds a master's degree in Finance, specializing in energy company strategy, a BSc in Politics and Economics, and a graduate diploma in Data Science.
He is a Chartered Fellow Management Accountant and a Certified Energy Risk Professional.
Ian Burgess

Ian is a results-orientated, business-led IT leader with extensive experience in building, transforming, and running technology functions across a wide range of industries and sectors.
Throughout his career, Ian has delivered through industry-leading technology in both B2B and B2C including Formula 1, online gaming, energy trading, car hire, business travel and logistics.
Ian relishes the opportunity to challenge the status quo by delivering ground-breaking solutions to business opportunities and has been recognised as one of the top UK CIOs for the last 3 years. In 2023, Ian ranked among the Top 11 CIOs according to the CIO100 list.
To this end, as part of his role as Chief Technology Officer for the Luxion group of companies, Ian is responsible for the commercial technology arm – Procode Technology Limited. Building upon an acquisition made in 2022, Ian is now making the broad range of systems and services developed to run the Utilita Energy business, along with a range of other exciting new developments, available to a much wider cross section of companies and sectors.
Jem Maidment
Chief Marketing Officer

A journalist for 20 years, Jem worked in regional media and at Teletext, before progressing to Chief Producer at Sky News.
After nearly seven years at Sky, he moved into corporate communications, first at a global consultancy, before running press offices at BAT and William Hill, where his team won a coveted PRCA Award.
Jem later worked on projects for brands such as Adidas and Western Union Transfer, and was commissioned by Arsenal FC to write several books.
He joined Utilita in 2015, initially as Head of PR, before taking over its Marketing function and setting up an Internal Communications team. He also established Utilita’s Customer Experience department.
Louise Walsh
Chief Customer Contact Officer

Louise and her work are central to Utilita’s mantra - doing the right thing for the customer.
She understands how the business works from top to bottom, having joined as a customer service advisor in 2011.
By working her way to the very top, she has gained a thorough understanding of the industry and what customers need.
Louise has revolutionised Utilita’s contact centres since taking on the role of Chief Customer Contact Officer in February 2022.
Louise is skilled in strategy, negotiation, and operations management, and is a Master of Business Administration following her studies at Solent University.
George Walters

George is often the driving force behind change at Utilita as customer demands evolve.
Since joining the business in 2019, he has worked on delivering new technologies, and he played an essential part in developing Utilita’s ‘Smart Score’ and ‘My Energy’.
Aside from smart metering and home services, George is spearheading Utilita’s quest to reach Net Zero by 2030.
Since graduating from the University of Exeter with a degree in economics and statistics, George has spent his entire career in the energy industry.
He previously occupied senior roles at EDF and Our Power.
Kim Brosnan

Kim has over 25+ years of experience in HR across a host of sectors including Media and Technology in the UK, and internationally for FTSE 100s, independent and Private Equity-backed businesses.
She has an outstanding track record of improving customer experience, and enhancing business performance.
Her previous experience includes Which?, Financial Times and Thames Water.
